SAMBA, Aug 26: In unlock-3, the Government also gave permission to open hotels and restaurants, but the Samba district administration did not permit opening of hotels, restaurants and dhabas in the district. Even confectionery and sweet shops are still closed in the Samba district. Despite the resumption of economic activities in the entire UT, the pastry, chefs and shopkeepers of the district Samba have been idle for the last three months. In such a situation, these people have started migrating to Jammu and other adjoining districts in search of employment.
According to the report, Corona cases are also less: It is not that the district administration is taking such strict steps due to the high incidence of Corona infection in Samba district. If compared to Jammu district, the cases in Samba district are very less. In Jammu district, till August 25, a total of 2463 corona cases were found, while in Samba district only 659 cases were reported till this period.
Ravi Khajuria, president of Maha Sabha of district Samba, has issued a statement today and demanded that in view of the feelings of common people and devotees in Samba, temples, hotels, shops selling food items including dhabas should be opened. And in view of the poor financial condition of the people who earn their livelihood by daily labour should be allowed to open their shops. Khajuria said that people have understood the seriousness of the Corona epidemic and that all security measures are being taken by them and keeping this in mind, there is a need to give concession in Samba.
He said that there are many such temples in Samba, including the famous Chichi Devi temple, where people from non-local areas, besides the local people reach but they have to face disappointment as the shrine has not been opened to pilgrims. He said that the administration in Jammu and Kashmir has allowed the Vaishno Devi Yatra but it is not logical not to open temples in Samba.
Ravi Khajuria has demanded that in view of the bad condition of the hotels, dhabas and vendors selling fertilizer for the last six months, should be allowed to do their job.
