Base hospitals to be re-setup; BRO to complete left out 3 bridges

SRINAGAR, Feb 26: The district administration in Ganderbal has chalked out the Work Plan for the Shri Amarnath Yatra this year under which several decisions have been taken besides issuing the necessary directions to all the line departments which are involved in ensuring a smooth and hassle-free Yatra while the concerned have been tasked to put all the basic facilities in place well before the start of the pilgrimage.
As per details of the Work Plan, the Revenue Department has been directed to ensure a full-fledged plan for deployment of Magistrates before the commencing of Yatra, while it has been stressed that RFID centres shall be established en-route Baltal well in advance so that Yatris do not suffer.
The department has been directed to constitute a committee and prepare location-wise maps for allotment of spaces to different departments, security forces and other service providers, while the SDM Kangan has been asked to make sure that no person is allowed to pitch and utilize the land without proper permission authenticated by the committee.
The Irrigation & Flood Control Department has been directed to initiate the construction of flood protection work of Zojilla Nallah at Baltal to ensure that the same is completed well before the start of the Yatra. The I&FC will also have to submit a certificate about flood protection to security camps, and other services covered by the I&FC Department.
The Health Department, on the other hand, as per the work plan, has been directed to re-establish base hospitals at the lower cave and ensure deployment of dedicated critical care ambulances Baltal and Nilgrath apart from establishing health centres from Zazana up to Holy cave.
Further, the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, will establish food supplies camps at Transit Camp Manigam, Nilgrath, Baltal Base Camp, Domail, Railpathri and Holy Cave during the Yatra period with ample stock of essential commodities like Rice, Atta, Sugar and petroleum products and also store ample stock of LPG cylinders. The concerned officials have been directed to ensure that ration is available at each camp to avoid any movement of ponies.
Fire and Emergency Services, similarly, will ensure the proper installation of water pumps at Transit Camps and Helipads besides the installation of fire extinguisher equipment and constitution of rapid response teams/ fire tenders in fire management at Baltal base camp up to the holy cave.
The F&ES has been asked to deploy one fire tender along with one imported portable hi-tech fire pump/ rescue equipment at each fire station, apart from identifying the place opposite the site of the river and starting augmentation to avoid any casualties.
The Transport Department as per the plan will deploy a sufficient number of well-conditioned buses from Baltal base camp to the Domail access gate for carrying the Yatris, while the Border Roads Organization’s (BRO) concerned officer commanding will also ensure that the work on three left-out steel bridges, out of 8, en-route Baltal, is completed before the Yatra.
Concerning mobile connectivity, the telecommunication companies like BSNL, Airtel and Reliance Jio have been asked to provide the 4G services to devotees as well as service providers and staff of different departments deployed.
