ADM conducts surprise market check

UDHAMPUR, July 30: In view of regular complaints from the consumers about quantity and quality of perishable items, like vegetables, fruits, mutton etc, the District Administration conducted a major inspection in the heart of Udhampur city.
The team of officers, led by Additional District Magistrate, Angrez Singh Rana, inspected various business establishments, which mainly include vegetable shops, Dhabas, Tea Stalls, Fruit Shops, Mutton Shops besides various retail and whole sale, Karyana stores in Udhampur city.
The officers of various departments, including Legal Metrology Department, Food, Civil Supply and Consumer Affair Department, Municipality, booked different defaulters and realized a fine to the tune of Rs. 20,000 on the spot.
On the occasion, faulty weighing scales were also seized by the Assistant Controller Legal Metrology Department, Jaideep Singh for further legal action under the provision of Legal Metrology Act.
