JAMMU, Mar 8: All Displaced Kashmiri Pandit United Forum (ADKPUF) and Roots in Kashmir (RIK) have accused the Coalition Government of betrayal with the community on Shrines Bill.
In their separate meetings today the two organizations said that the Government broke its promise scores of times since 2002 when the Opposition NC tabled the Bill after Government rejected it saying that it will bring a law on protection of Hindu shrines in Valley.
RIK meeting, which was chaired by M K Koul took serious note that Government failed to honour its commitments and said that the Congress –NC coalition was never interested in protecting the Hindu shrines or Hindus of Kashmir and this is the reason that while voting on the Bill they tried to protect the interests of few individuals. By doing so it led the entire community down.
RIK also expressed shock over the role of BJP MLAs on the Bill and the body language used by them who deliberately stalled the voting on it. Vir Saraf, convener of RIK accused the BJP MLAs that they played in the hands of NC-Congress to safeguard the alliance.
ADKPUF, which met under the leadership of D N Kissu however complimented those political parties and MLAs who supported the Bill and condemned those including BJP which opposed it. It said the Government was creating a drama on the Bill for years together but the sentiments of the community were hurt by the words used by BJP leadership.
Kissu said the KPs will not sit till the Bill is passed in the Assembly and appealed the community to stand behind PN B Trust like a rock.
P L Sudeshi president of the Forum C L Koul its vice president, Prof G L Koul its advisor and P N Raina general secretary while speaking said that community will intensify struggle under the banner of the Trust for the passage of the Bill.
