JAMMU, Mar 2: In view of admitting adjournment motion moved by the People’s Democratic Party over discussion on handing over of mortal remains of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru to his family, Gujjars of Jammu and Kashmir today said it will sideline burning issues of the State.
Expressing concern over the attitude of the parties which have held State Assembly and Legislative Council to hostage over Afzal Guru’s issue, Bhartiya Gujjar Mahasabha said these parties are least concerned over the plight of people and are making hue and cry over a matter which has been decided by highest court of the country.
“There are number of other issues of serious nature which are required to be discussed and raised in the House and resolved accordingly,” Mahasabha State president Eshfaq-ur-Rehman Poswal in a statement issued here said.
“Due to the adjournment motions moved in the House regarding Afzal Guru, other burning issues and matters of urgent attention confronting large number of people will be side lined,” Mr Poswal said.
He said that over 9 lakh unemployed youth in Jammu and Kashmir have lot of hopes from public representatives adding, “the representatives have time and again betrayed the youth and have given them nothing except assurances and promises.”
By raking up Afzal Guru’s issue, these people have put other serious issues in the back burner and deprived people who were waiting that their problems would be taken up and resolved in the House.
He also criticised the representatives of Gujjar and Bakerwal community for disappointing them as instead of raising issues of community, they are busy in settling their vested interest.
