ADGP, Div Com chair review meeting ahead of G-20 meet

Officers asked to adopt people-centric approach

SRINAGAR, May 15: Ahead of the G-20 event in Kashmir, ADGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, alongside the Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, today co-chaired a comprehensive review meeting with field officers at the Police Control Room during which the participants of the meeting were directed to adopt the people-centric approach.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss and evaluate the arrangements being made for the safe and successful conduct of the G-20 event and saw the attendance of several high-ranking officials, including DIG CKR Srinagar, SSP Srinagar, all Zonal SPs of Srinagar, SDPOs, civil administration representatives such as DC Srinagar, ADC Srinagar, SDM (W), Tehsildars, and Naib Tehsildars of Srinagar district.
Commencing the meeting, the chairing officers were briefed by the concerned officials regarding the comprehensive arrangements that had been put in place to ensure the secure and peaceful execution of the G-20 event.
ADGP Kashmir and Div Com Kashmir issued directives to the participating officers, emphasizing the importance of deploying magistrates and establishing a robust police bandobast well in advance of the summit.
They reiterated the need for enhanced security measures at vulnerable locations to prevent any potential terrorist attacks during the G-20 event.
The officers were instructed to intensify joint patrolling, particularly during nighttime, to thwart any suspicious movement by terrorists. The officers were also urged to maintain a high level of coordination with the civil administration on the ground.
Furthermore, the civil administration was directed to maintain close liaison with their respective jurisdictional police officers to promptly address any exigencies that may arise within their areas of responsibility (AOR).
The officers were also instructed to establish strong cooperation with the police and security force officers to ensure a successful G-20 event.
The chairing officers emphasized the importance of adopting a public-centric approach and meeting the demands of the public. They instructed all magistrates and police officers to identify and take preventive measures against any rumour mongers.
The officers were explicitly instructed to ensure that there is no harassment of the general public and to conduct themselves with utmost courtesy when interacting with citizens.
