JAMMU: Maj Gen Nilendra Kumar, ADG, NCC Directorate J&K today called on Governor N N Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here.
ADG, NCC, informed the Governor about the NCC’s ongoing activities in the State. He requested the Governor to urge the State Government to give early concurrence for raising the proposed NCC Battalions at Udhampur and Kupwara and 1 Air Sqn at Srinagar; consider conduct of a separate examination for cadets who may miss semester exams during November, December owing to their participation in NCC Training Camps for their selection in NCC Republic Day Contingent and provision of incentives to NCC cadets for admissions to professional colleges and at the time of employment.
The Governor informed Maj Gen Kumar that all his concerns will be taken up with the State Government. Observing that the NCC is an excellent organisation which inculcates discipline and the spirit of camaraderie and resilience, the Governor stressed the need for all required efforts being made to see that the maximum number of boys and girls from J&K get enrolled in the NCC and join the officers cadres of the Defence Services.
