JAMMU, Mar 3: S C Chibber, Additional Secretary, General Administrative Department (GAD) was today appointed as Inquiry Officer to probe the corruption allegations leveled against Tawoos Hussain, the then Senior Assistant in Education Department Civil Secretariat for allegedly taking a bribe of over Rs seven lakh from unemployed youth for providing a government job to them.
According to order issued by M A Bukhari Commissioner cum Secretary to Government GAD, the Inquiry Officer was asked to furnish the report in this regard within a period of 15 days along with connected record for proceeding further in the matter in accordance with the standing rules.
As per the Government order a complaint was received by Grievances Cell CM’s Secretariat lodged by Mohammad Hanief of Poonch and others wherein, serious charges of corruption were leveled against Tawoos Hussain, Senior Assistant, then working in Education Department.
The complainants had alleged that they had come to Jammu and stayed in a hotel, when they get in contact with Tawoos Hussain working in Civil Secretariat as a Section Officer through an advocate Mr Bhati.
They were told that Mr Hussain who is a SO was having network in Civil Secretariat as a result of which he could manage employment for the complainants.
The Complainants said that they being unemployed having no source of income, where deceived by Tawoos Hussain and they paid some amount in cash for getting government service to complainants.
In their complaint they alleged that Rs 7,44,000 were paid to Tawoos Hussian by them as bribe. Out of it Rs 3,40,000 were paid in cash while Rs 4,04,000 were paid through bank transactions to him in his capacity as the then senior Assistant Education Department Civil Secretariat in lieu of getting employment as promised by Tawoos Hussain.
The Government after examining the complaint against Mr Hussain, senior Assistant presently posted in Animal Husbandry Department, Civil Secretariat has decided to conduct a fact finding preliminary inquiry into the matter departmentally through Additional Secretary to Government General Administrative Department , Establishment.
