This has reference to the news item ‘BJP for operation of additional flights to Leh’ DE March 12.
The demand for additional flights to Leh is a genuine demand and needs to be conceeded by the authorities.
There is tremendous rush of passengers as people, particularly, employees and students want to return home after being away from the region during harsh winters. Schools have started functioning after remaining closed for two to three months. The non-local teaching faculty in order to resume their duties need transportation facility which is not available. The only mode remain airplanes. Due to heavy rush ticket are not available.
Therefore, more flights need to be operated during the month of March. Besides, fares need to be slashed, as airlines operating on the route have indulged in profiteering by fleecing passengers.
