I would like to highlight the issue of additional one month salary for the conduct of Panchayat/Municipality Election 2018. On 3108-2018 the Govt of J&K State, General Administrative Department issued an order that reads “Payment of one month additional salary/wages/remuneration in lieu of election duty…………………additional salary/wages/remuneration in respect of an employees borne on the establishment of his office only after obtaining a certificate to be issued by the Deputy Election office/Deputy Commissioner”.
It very sad to mention here that Police official who were a part of election duty were left out as if they were not Govt employees. It may be mentioned here that it is the force that helps in conducting peaceful elections. But the Govt decision would discourage the police force. If they are not given the same benefit as others. Recently a two days video conference of District Development Commissioner was held in oder to settle the issue but nothing fruitful conclusion occurred. The tall claim of Govt of Jammu & Kashmir in providing one month additional salary to its employees still remains a distant dream. In J&K State employees never get the benefits without resorting to strikes, hartal and even lathicharge by police and paramilitary forces. Last but not the least it is requested to Chief Electoral Officer, Commissioner Secretary Department of Finance J&K State to fullfil the promise of providing additional salary to its employees without further delay.
