JAMMU, Sept 15: Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Medical Education Department, Vivek Bhardwaj visited Government Medical College Jammu and reviewed the functioning of GMC and AHs today.
During the meeting, a detailed PowerPoint Presentation was given to the Additional Chief Secretary regarding the working, ongoing projects, infrastructural and developmental works, various centrally and state sponsored schemes which are being run by GMC Jammu and AHs by Dr. Shashi Sudhan Sharma, Principal and Dean GMC Jammu. He also reviewed preparations regarding 3rd wave of COVID-19 in the GMC and AHs.
Keeping in view the 3rd wave of COVID-19, Bhardwaj directed XEn civil, mechanical and electrical to complete all the ongoing projects related to the augmentation of infrastructure required for meeting the challenge of 3rd wave of COVID-19 pandemic at earliest.
He said during the meeting that 25% of the amount of machinery equipment shall be kept at the disposal of the Principal, Government Medical College Jammu to meet the requirements of the machinery/ equipment which are required in any exigency.
Additional Chief Secretary directed the administration of GMC & AHs Jammu to make the best possible use of the available resources & also project the deficiencies so that the same can be resolved as soon as possible.
He said that during these tough times, the teaching and training of UG/PG students, paramedical students should continue so that the academics don’t suffer at any cost.
“GMC Jammu is doing well in COVID-19 testing and we need to ramp up the vaccination in view of the 3rd wave of COVID”, he added.
He was accompanied by DG Planning H&ME, Satvir Kour; MD JKMSCL, Dr. Yash Pal Sharma and Additional Secretary H&ME, Rajeshwar Charak.
The meeting was attended by Ashwini Khajuria, Administrator, GMC & AHs; HoD’s from various departments, Medical Superintendents of GMC & AHs and Xen Mechanical, Civil and Electrical, Planning Officers, Chief account officer/account officer.
