KARGIL, Nov 22: Acting Chairman and Chief Executive Councilor (CEC), LAHDC, Kargil and Executive Councilor for Works, Aga Syed Abbass Razvi today took stock of the power supply position in Tai Suru area and inspected facilities for stranded passengers at Zanskar Sarai.
The CEC chaired a meeting of the concerned officers at Council Secretariat here which was attended by Project Director Kargil Renewable Energy Development Agency (KREDA) Kacho Ahmad Khan, Tehsildar Tai Suru Sajjad Hussain, officers of Power Development Department (PDD) Kargil and Nambardars of Khawos, Pursa, Kochik, Yuljuk, Tai Suru, Kargee and adjoining villages.
During the course of the meeting, the Acting CEC was informed that presently 24 hours power supply is being provided to the villages in the area from 2×500 KW Chillung Mini Hydel Project right from Panikhar, Namsuru, Tai Suru up to Yuljuk. The meeting was further informed that about 500 KW power is generated from the Mini Hydel Project during peak hours.
Issues with regard to taking steps to check misuse of power to curb load shedding, separate feeder for Nam Suru Khawos, transformers for Thulus, replacement of electric poles at 15 locations in the area, installation of required machinery including polymer insulator pins and other related issues came up for thorough discussion.
The Acting CEC gave on spot directions for the constitution of a checking committee under the supervision of Tehsildar Tai Suru with the engineers of PDD and KREDA besides the Nambardars of the concerned villages as members who would ensure that heaters, boilers, geysers and other heavy electric appliances etc are not used.
Meanwhile, the Nambardars of different villages projected their issues. The Acting CEC assured the Nambardars for timely resolution of all genuine issues and demands.
Later, the Acting Chairman visited Zanskar Sarai and enquired about facilities available to the stranded passengers because of the closure of Kargil Zanskar road due to snowfall. He was accompanied by Councilor Parkachik Haji Ghulam Muhammad, former Executive Councilor Zanskar Affairs Tsering Angdus, SHO Baroo and other concerned officers.
The Acting CEC instructed the officers concerned to ensure the provision of best possible facilities to the stranded passengers at the Sarai including bedding, hygienic food and other required facilities. He also announced to provide them free meals during their entire stay till the Kargil Padum road restores for traffic movement.
