This has reference to the article ‘ Ignoring Satyarthi’ DE Feb 11, by Kajal Chatterjee.
It is quite dismaying that we the people of India pay least attention to those who actually deserve appreciation and acknowledgement.
These people work tirelessly for suffering masses silently without hogging headlines unlike our film and sport stars who have media after them if they sneeze or sleep
If the country is witnessing rise in criminal or anti-social activities, it is because, people who raise voices against them are silenced by the powerful, or are easily ignored not only by the Government by common people as well.
It has also been observed that people who deserve awards or recognition are ignored while those who enjoy ‘connection’ with the powers that be are honoured. Whenever, national awards are presented, they court controversy.
The country can keep its pace forward only if people selfless people like nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi are given what they deserve- respect.
