Srinagar, Mar 22: A former Tehsildar was attacked by unidentified person with acid in Waniyar locality of Safakadal here in Srinagar, police said.
Superintendent of Police (SP) of North City, Sajad Khaliq, said 65-year old Ali Muhammad Shah, a former Tehsildar, was attacked by one or more than one persons yesterday at 5:40 am when he was going to offer pre-dawn prayers in Waniyar.
“The acid fell on his clothes and face,” the top cop said, adding that the victim is stable. He said police have registered a case in this regard under FIR number 36/2016 under section 324 RPC and investigation is underway.
“So far no one has been detained or questioned and the motive of attack is not known. The victim has also not revealed anything nor named anyone. However we are investigating the case,” said the SP.
