Accidental insurance cover to employees

 

More than 3.50 lakh employees of Jammu and Kashmir whether working in Government departments, offices, PSUs, Autonomous Bodies, Local Bodies etc getting accidental insurance cover by way of the renewal of the insurance policy, for the third time, is a much required social security and a welfare measure taken by the UT Government. The important feature of the said cover is its coverage up to a limit of Rs.10 lakh per employee on annual basis by paying a nominal premium of Rs.346 only by an employee. It must be borne in mind by the respective officers heading departments and offices who are drawing and disbursing authorities to ensure that no employee remained without the accidental insurance and that the premium was deducted from his/her salary which is mandatory. The benefits under the scheme are to be in favour of all type of employees including daily waged and temporary employees as the insurance cover is a sort of indemnity which provides payment directly to the insured depending on various factors. It must be noted that the Government has to remit to the Insurance Company in advance the complete sum of premium payable for its 3.50 lakh employees.
