Accident victim succumbs

RAMBAN, May 19: The 45-year-old street vendor critically injured in a road accident near Jhulla Bridge here on May 16, succumbed to his injuries today during treatment at Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu.
The deceased Krishan Kumar Dubey, son of Faqeer Chand, resident of Maitra, Ramban was hit by a motorcycle near Jhulla Bridge after which he was taken to District Hospital Ramban in critical condition from where he was referred to GMC Jammu.
Police said that the motorcyclist fled the spot immediately after the accident.
Following the incident, Police Station Ramban registered an FIR with number 112/2026 under Sections 281 and 125(a) of BNS and investigation was assigned to PSI Burhan Muzaffar.
During probe, cops recorded statement of an eyewitness and also examined CCTV footage of the area and identified the alleged motorcyclist as Mansoor Hamid Naik, son of Abdul Hamid Naik, resident of Halla Banihal, presently residing at Pernote, Ramban.
The motorcycle involved in the accident was bearing registration number JK19A-6008 and it was seized.
Police said that further investigation into the case was underway.
