KATHUA, Apr 21: An accident victim died today in District Hospital Kathua due to alleged negligence of the hospital staff, triggering protest by the family members of the deceased.
According to the reports, the deceased man identified as Abdul Majid (45) son of Alan Din, resident of Mahichack, along with one of his relatives were travelling from Mahichak to Nagari on his bike when a 4-year-old child identified as Harsh son of Omkar Nath suddenly came in front of his bike this evening. In the mishap, Abdul Majid and the child got injured.
“Abdul Majid, who was himself injured in the mishap, took the injured child to District Hospital Kathua, where the child was given treatment but the injured Abdul Majid was completely ignored by the medical staff present in the emergency of the hospital,” reports said.
According to the sources as well as family members of the deceased, due to alleged negligence of the staff, Abdul Majid succumbed to his injuries. The family members of the deceased alleged that the hospital staff presented in the emergency did not take care of Majid and even after his death, the hospital authorities tried to refer the dead body to GMC Jammu to save their skin.
Later, the family members of deceased took out protest demonstration against the Hospital authorities and blocked the national highway in front of District Hospital Kathua for some time. They demanded magisterial enquiry into the matter and legal action against the erring hospital staff.
The protestors dispersed after SHO Kathua reached on the spot and pacified them by assuring proper investigation into the matter.
Meanwhile, Nagari police has registered a case of road accident and started investigation into the matter.
