ACB raids 7 premises of former JMC Com; seizes huge gold, documents

JAMMU, Nov 18: In a major crack down, the sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) raided the house and six other locations including two industrial units of former Jammu Municipal Corporation Commissioner (JMC), Kuldeep Khajuria in J&K, Chandigarh, Delhi and Haryana and seized huge gold and cash besides other documents of flats, plots and three factories worth tens of crores.
The officer who retired as Secretary Rural Development in December 2016, remained placed at prime positions, like- Deputy Commissioner Poonch, Special Secretary Housing and Urban Development, Director Urban Local Bodies Jammu, Vice Chairman Jammu Development Authority, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation / Chairman BOCA and BDO in the RDD for long tenure.
Official sources said that seven teams of ACB under the direct supervision of Director, J&K Anti-Corruption Bureau, simultaneously raided the House No. 214 Sec I, Ext Adrash Enclave, Trikuta Nagar Extension, Jammu belonging to Kuldeep Khajuria and six other locations in Jammu and outside and recovered 50 Tolas of gold ornaments, documents of plots/ flats and three factories worth tens of crores, papers of Bar and restaurant at Bari Brahamana, FDRs amounting to Rs 40 lakhs and several other revenue documents of properties, raised from unknown sources of income.
The ACB teams conducted searches at locations including three properties outside the UT of J&K belonging to accused officer and his family members viz, Flat in Golden Palm, Noida, Flat in DLF Hyde Park Estate IF, New Chandigarh Mullanpur, PA, Punjab, Flat No. H-601, 6th Floor, Tower-H, Vardhman Springdale, Sec No. 3, Dharuhera, Haryana, M/s Moon Light Bar and Restaurant, Bus Stand, Bari Brahmana, M/s Kashmir Bottles, SIDCO, Industrial Growth Centre, Samba, M/s Bhaskar Lights, SIDCO, Birpur, Chowk, Bari Brahmana and Factory Café, Opposite Wine Shop, Channi Himmat, Jammu.
During the course of searches ACB teams found incriminating documents relating to acquisition of assets/properties out of his ill-gotten money.
On scrutiny of these documents, it came to the fore that the accused Khajuria has acquired huge properties / assets both movable and immovable worth crores of rupees in his name and in the name of his family members.
He is also in the possession of land measuring 2 kanals 17 marlas at Chowadhi, Jammu, Plot measuring 48’x80′ bearing Khasra No. 256 situated at JDA Colony Trikuta Nagar Jammu, Land measuring 13 kanals and 11 marlas at Rakh Bhagla Tehsil Samba, Land measuring 10 marlas in Sainik Colony Jammu besides share in the partnership in National Marketing Corporation. He has also lent interest free loan of 20 lakhs to Bal Krishan, son of Om Parkash R/o Talli Morh, New Plot Jammu.
The facts related to disproportionate assets of the accused disclose commission of criminal misconduct under Section 13(1) (b) r/w section 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988.
Consequently, a case FIR No. 27/2019 has been registered in P/S Anti-Corruption Bureau, Jammu against Kuldeep Khajuria former Municipal Commissioner Jammu in P/S Anti-Corruption Bureau, Jammu. Further, investigation of the case was in progress.
