ACB arrests revenue official, Chowkidar accepting bribe in J&K’s Srinagar

Srinagar, March 10: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday arrested a revenue official and a Chowkidar for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant in Srinagar.
ACB in a statement said that it received a written complaint wherein the complainant alleged that Asif Farooq Wani, Patwari, Halqa Brein Nishat, Srinagar and Chowkidar Nazir Ahmad Dar are demanding Rs 10,000 as bribe for issuance of Fardi Naqsha Intikhaab of land in favour of the complainant.
On receipt of the complaint case was registered in Police Station ACB Srinagar and investigation taken up. During the course of investigation, a team was constituted who laid a successful trap and caught red-handed, Chowkidar, Dar while demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs 10,000 on behalf of, Patwari, Wani Halqa Brien Nishat, from the complainant.
Both the accused were arrested and taken into custody by ACB Team. The bribe money was also recovered from their possession in presence of independent witnesses. Immediately after the trap, search was conducted in residential houses of the accused.
Further investigation into the case is on, the ACB statement said.
