JAMMU, Feb 24: The first ever meeting of the Academic Council of the Autonomous College GCW Parade was held today under the chairmanship of the college Principal, Dr Hemla Aggrawal.
The meeting was attended by the HoDs of all subjects taught in the college, expert members Prof M.K. Jyoti, Prof Lokesh Verma, Prof Indira Rathore, Prof Veena Rajput, Prof. Sameeru Sharma (Principal GCET, Jammu), Rakesh Gupta (president CCI, Jammu), Annil Suri (president, Bari Brahamana Industries Association). Prof Barbara Koul, Prof Neeraj Kumar, Prof. Nidhi Kotwal, and Prof Samriti Manchanda.
The Principal explained the meeting agenda, which included nomination of two experts in different subjects from outside the college by the Academic Council. The nominations from the corporate sector required in different subjects were also discussed.
The members of the Academic Council suggested that keeping in view the future prospects of the courses, the syllabi of different subjects should be framed at par with reputed national Universities.
Prof M K Jyoti threw light on some vital issues related to the Board of Studies. Prof Lokesh Verma suggested that the experts from the cross section of society should also be called as special invitees. Prof Veena Rajput suggested that the college should consider approaching media houses for the placement of students, especially those who are pursuing courses in languages. Prof Indira Rathore focused on the importance of imparting quality education to students by the teaching faculty. Prof Sameeru emphasized on the need of having holistic approach in teaching.
Rakesh Gupta and Annil Suri gave valuable suggestions on public private partnership and liaisons be created with the corporate sector.
Dr Sonia Khajuria conducted the meeting as member secretary.
