JAMMU, Nov 15: Demanding that controversial J&K Public University Bill should be immediately withdrawn, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) today announced its agitational programme over the issue.
Giving details, ABVP State Secretary Akshi Billowria informed that in the recently concluded State Executive Council, ABVP passed two resolutions and demanded that the Public University Bill should be withdrawn with immediate effect.
While elaborating, Akshi said that ABVP is going to launch an agitational programme commencing tomorrow with press conferences in all districts of J&K for highlighting the concerns of students and teachers against the Bill.
“On November 17, ABVP will launch a massive signature campaign, which will be followed by a mass email sending campaign on November 19 and mass letter campaign to the Lieutenant Governor on November 21 regarding Public University Bill,” she added.
“On 23rd November, students will protest wearing black ribbon while on 25th November, ABVP will hold protests at unit levels and on 28th November ABVP will call to boycott classes across all the educational institutes. On 30th November ABVP will appeal to get support from all educational stakeholders, social organisations and political Parties. On 2nd December ABVP will hold a symbolic hunger strike and on 5th December protests will be held at District levels and memorandums will be submitted to respective Deputy Commissioners,” Ashi announced and added that if demands are not fulfilled till then, ABVP will call “Secretariat Chalo” March to gherao the Secretariat.
Other demands in the resolution passed in the ABVP resolution are establishment of National Law University in Jammu Kashmir, revising the curriculum expeditiously, implementation of National Education Policy 2020 in every campus of Jammu Kashmir & Ladakh as soon as possible.
In the second resolution titled “Present scenario of Jammu Kashmir”, ABVP has strongly condemned the selective killings in Kashmir and demanded that the security of minority people living in Kashmir should be ensured, Assembly elections should be conducted in Jammu Kashmir as soon as possible, efforts should be made on a large scale for the restoration of culture, spirituality and Sharda Peeth. Pakistan occupied Jammu Kashmir should be included in India as soon as possible.
Others who were present in the press conference, included Chahat Anand State Joint Secretary and Hari Om Sharma Jammu Mahanagar Secretary.
