JAMMU, Feb 9: Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) continued its protest on second consecutive day against the Jammu University administration for making University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) a separate body.
The protest was led ABVP Jammu University Secretary, Suyash Gupta and elected CR of UIET, Saksham Koushal. Early in the morning all the students of UIET boycotted their classes and in the shape of rally moved towards the Vice Chancellor’s chamber. By seeing so many students coming towards the chamber they were blocked by the security at the gate of the chamber. After that the students sat on peaceful dharna outside the Vice Chancellor’s chamber.
The students raised slogans”JU VC down- down” “we want justice”. While talking to the media Sheetal said “we were given admission in University premises but now they disown the students of UIET which is disgusting”. Saksham another protester said that “we have taken admission in UIET since it was affiliated to A+accredited University of Jammu but now they are naming UIET autonomous which is not fair” .
Extending support to the UIET students ABVP Jammu Mahanagar Secretary, Piyush Khajuria assured the students that ABVP will stand shoulder to shoulder with UIET students and will fight until the decision is not revoked. He said it is really shameful that the head of the prestigious institution is saying that nothing is in his hands and “I don’t know how this issue is going to be solved”.”ABVP will come on roads if the issue will not be solved till coming Monday”, said Piyush Khajuria.
Shubham Langer Jammu Mahanagar joint secretary ABVP said the that administration decision like this is not a new thing in his tenure as he has taken so many anti student decisions already for which we have always to fight and we are committed to the student fraternity that student career will not be put on hold.
He also added if the demand of students will not be fulfilled we will go on hunger strike.
