ABVP continues protest against education authorities

JAMMU, Oct 16: Students under the banner of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) here today staged a protest demonstration at Jewel Chowk against education authorities for allegedly ignoring the issues of students.
The protesting students raised slogans against the Principal Secretary Higher Education, Vice Chancellor CUoJ and MoS PMO.
In a handout ABVP claimed that cops had a scuffle with leaders of protesting students including ABVP Secretary, Mukesh Manhas; Joint Secretary, Nandita; Pradeep, Jammu Mahanagar Secretary; Akshay, Akash, Rishabh, Prateek, Nitan, Ankit Rana, Gaurav and Shubham after which many students were arrested.
They also claimed that ADC Jammu has assured for arranging a meeting of students with Principal Secretary Higher Education to discuss the problems.
The protesters were demanding increase in intake capacity of students at all the affiliated colleges of CUoJ and increase in number of seats in under graduate general courses.
Their other demands included fee-refund to all the students whose forms of 1st semester admission were rejected by CUoJ.
They also demanded developing of infrastructure in all the newly sanctioned degree colleges affiliated to Jammu University and all streams to be introduced in these colleges.
More demands included empowering the Principals of Colleges under CUoJ regarding admission and intake capacity of students.
