JAMMU, Apr 27: ABVP unit of district Poonch today submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti through the DC Poonch, demanding to keep abeyance the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in UG courses.
A delegation of ABVP Poonch unit moved to the office of DC Poonch, M H Malik and submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti under the leadership of ABVP City secretary Poonch, Amit Gupta and Anchal Singh, organisation secretary through the Deputy Commissioner on the issue of CBCS system and demanded that CBCS system should be kept in abeyance.
Recently, the University’s Academic Council has approved the introduction of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) in Under-graduate courses. Choice Based Credit System is to provide one optional subject apart from their mainstream subjects. It’s motive is to let students acquire knowledge of a subject of one’s own choice also. But if we analyse the present scenario of system of education where we don’t have choice to study subjects of our mainstream courses in campuses where there is no staff for even existing compulsory subjects in far flung areas, even in the cities a student studying in the science college don’t have the choice to study subjects of arts and commerce and so others, keeping in view these aspects ABVP believes that this is not less than mockery with the career of students.
The delegation was accompanied by Simran Kour, Srishti, Farzana, Rachit Kandhari, Rishab Sasan, Karan Sudan and others.
