JAMMU, Nov 11: Continuing their protest for the sixth day, ABVP activists and Jammu University students again staged a protest demonstration outside office of Dean Students Welfare JU, for refunding Wi-Fi and Smart Card fees besides allotment of hostel to all the girl students.
While addressing the protest demonstration, Ajay Thakur, JU Vice President of ABVP , said that the university has failed to address the genuine demands of the students who are left with no option other than to adopt agitational path.
As the protesting students also gheraoed Dean Students Welfare Prof Jasbir Singh, the latter assured that the demands of girls hostel and refund of wi-fi fee would be given top priority while the other issues would also be resolved soon.
Meanwhile, ABVP activists of Jammu Mahanagar also protested against the Cluster University administration demanding postponement of all semester examinations of UG courses.
Students from various colleges of Cluster University, under the leadership of City Secretary Parteek Raina, assembled outside the MAM College and then marched towards Divisional Commissioner Office, where they torched an effigy of Cluster University Vice-Chancellor amidst raising of slogans.
According to Parteek Raina, minimum 90 lectures are required to be delivered in each subject before the semester exams whereas the Cluster University has issued the date sheet for exams only after 30-35 lectures. The Cluster University has announced the date of external exams without fulfilling the norms and guidelines of semester system and it is totally the violation of UGC guidelines due to which students are facing extreme stress, he added and alleged that the university administration was playing with the future of students.
ABVP demanded postponement of the exams till the minimum number of required lectures are delivered by the University.
