Absconding burglars arrested

JAMMU, Feb 17: Thieves, who were involved in the burglary case in the dry fruit merchant’s house at Mohalla Partap Garh and were at large have been arrested from New Delhi.
The accused have been identified as Nizam Ali and Mohammad Shamim, both residents of Bangladesh, at present New Delhi.
As per police sources, robbers struck in the house of prominent dry-fruit merchant Kamal Gupta at Mohallah Partap Garh area and decamped with gold jewellery weighting around 300 tolas and cash over Rs 22 lakh during the intervening night of May 26 and 27, 2015.
The thieves decamped with gold jewellery and cash after breaking open the locks of over three rooms in the house.
Kamal Gupta along with his brothers is running a dry-fruit showroom in Raghunath Bazar on the name and style “Chuni Lal Amar Nath–dry fruit merchant”.
The theft was noticed by family members in the morning on May 27, who informed the police.
A case in this regard was registered at City police station and investigation started.
During the course of investigation, seven thieves were arrested earlier and challan was produced in the Court in the first week of February this year.
The two burglars, who were evading their arrest, have been arrested from New Delhi by a team from City police station.
Further questioning of the accused is on to ascertain their involvement in other theft cases.
Police team led by Incharge SMGS Hospital police post SI Wasim Mehraj made the arrest under the supervision of SHO City Inspector Shakti Sharma, SDPO City Vivek Shekhar Sharma, SP City Dr Vinod Kumar and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
