Absconder arrested by CBI

JAMMU, Dec 6: CBI Jammu today arrested an absconder, who was evading his arrest for the last two years. A reward had been declared by CBI recently in order to trace him.
An official spokesman said that following specific inputs, CBI team including Inspector Bhagwan Dass Dandia, Constable B B Sharma, Constable Naresh Sharma and others conducted a raid at Ramnagar under the supervision of Dr Armandeep Singh, SP CBI Jammu and arrested the absconder namely Vijay Bhatti alias Gorkha, who was one of the accused involved in SBI Bank fraud case involving Kaluchak Branch Jammu.
According to the case, Proprietor of M/s Mir Associates approached SBI Kaluchak Branch in January 2007 for securing loan facilities of Rs 2 crore under Traders Easy Scheme against the hypothecation of stocks for building materials and receivable as primary security for advancement of business activity of the firm and mortgaged the property in the shape of land and a double storey building etc.
However, the documents of the mortgaged land turned out to be fake and forged. The documents were prepared by accused Vijay Bhatti alias Gorkha, who also motivated two persons to impersonate as owners of the mortgaged land. The loan facilities were used by the partners of M/s Mir Associates for their own ends and no repayment was made to the bank as a result of which the loan turned NPA.
Accordingly, case under FIR number 5(A)/2010 under Sections 120-B r/w 420, 467, 468 was registered at CBI Jammu against Proprietor of Mir Associates, Bank officials and others.
Except Vijay Bhatti alias Gorkha, son of Billo Ram of Mohada Morh Udhampur presently putting up in Ward No.1 Kot Ramnagar, all were arrested and later bailed out. The absconder had adopted similar modus operandi in other cases as well. In fact, another person was found by CBI to be facing trial in his place before CJM Samba.
