JAMMU, Aug 29: Panun Kashmir (PK) strongly condemned the recent statement of a group of Kashmiri Pandits issued in Kashmir demanding the restoration of Article-370 and 35-A. In a meeting of PK Political Affairs Committee held here, today under the leadership of its president Virender Raina, PK said it needs to be mentioned that generations of Indians including Kashmiri Pandits have struggled and sacrificed their lives for the abrogation of these pernicious Articles of the Constitution.
The meeting among others was addressed by its general secretary (Org) Kamal Bagati, Upinder Koul general secretary, Ashok Chrungoo and convenor PK Youth, Sameer Bhatt.
Raina, said that these individuals do not represent the Kashmiri Pandit view point and nobody should be mistaken by their statement.“ Abrogation of Article-370, was a cornerstone of our struggle for the reclamation of our Homeland in Kashmir. All those who were at the helm of affairs in Kashmir at the time of Kashmiri Pandit exodus are now demanding the restoration of special status,. It is ironical that KPs suffered genocide and ethnic cleansing in Kashmir when the special status of Kashmir was in place and this group of individuals is seeking it’s restoration which is totally unfortunate”, he added.
He said PK is of the firm view that Article-370 was divisive in nature and gave fillip to separatism and sub-nationalism, ultimately morphing into terrorism. Kashmiri Pandits were it’s prime victims and continue to live as refugees in their own country because of this controversial Article. With the biggest hurdle in the development of the State out of the way, the time for the resettlement of the Kashmiri Pandits in their Homeland in Kashmir must begin now. The template for a separate Homeland in Kashmir is as per the historic Margdarshan Resolution, he added.
Kamal Bagati while addressing the meeting said that a conspiracy is being hatched to malign the nationalist credentials of Kashmiri Pandits by a fringe group who seems to be singing the tunes of all those who are day dreaming for the restoration of Article 370.“We condemn all the actions of this individual group that tend to tarnish the nationalistic struggle of Kashmiri Pandits in exile”, he added.
Upinder Koul discussed about the preparations for the forthcoming Vitasta Tryodasshi function to be celebrated on the banks of Ranbir Canal.
