Abrogation of Article 370 benefitted J&K people immensely: BJP

SRINAGAR, July 6: General Secretary of Bhartiya Janata Party (J&K), Ashok Koul today said that the abrogation of Article 370 has come with immense benefits for the people of J&K.
He said that post abrogation of special status, people have reaped its benefits and there is no stone pelting and law and order situations have come to halt, while there are no civilian killings taking place at encounter sites.
Talking to media persons on the side-lines of an event organised to pay tribute to BJP founder Dr Shama Prassad Mukherji, Kaul said “The then Law Minister of India BR Ambedkar did not incorporate Article 370 which meant that it was temporary.
He said that the Article 35-A was incorporated through a presidential notification which was wrong. He underlined that the people did not achieve anything out of Article 370.
He impressed that all the regional parties be those from National Conference of the PDP, played politics over Article 370 and 35 A just to ensure that they remain in power.
He said people of J&K were kept in dark for the past 70 years by none other than the leaders of political parties that ruled the erstwhile State.
“The benefits of abrogation of Article 370 are clear; stone pelting has completely vanished and there is no protest or a civilian killing at the encounter sites,” he said.
Commenting over the resignation of Syed Ali Geelani, he said: “Geelani is a veteran politician. He has been in the Assembly and knows the benefits of democracy. Had he taken the decision of quitting Hurriyat earlier, Kashmir would not have seen bloodshed.”
