SRINAGAR, Apr 8: National Conference president and candidate for Srinagar Lok Sabha constituency, Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that if the Article 370 is abrogated it will pave way for the freedom of Jammu and Kashmir.
Abdullah while addressing a party rally at Muniwar in Srinagar said that BJP manifesto clearly states that they want to do away with the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. “They have first time included it in their manifesto that they will abrogate the Article 370. That means they want to end the special status of the State that Constitution has guaranteed us. They want to bury our special status, flag and constitution. Today is our biggest test. Today I want to ask people who are fighting election for BJP that are they willing to sell the respect of their mothers and daughters. Are you so much blinded by the money that you want to sell the State? Don’t you see what are they doing? Today they will kill us and tomorrow it will be your turn. Remember this”, he said.
The NC president said that if the Article 370 is abrogated it will pave way for the freedom of the State from Indian Union. “They want to get people from outside settle here and decrease our number. Do they think we will remain in slumber? We will fight against it. We will rise against it. If they end Article 370, what will happen to the accession then? I think its Allah’s will that they are trying to abrogate it. Let them do it as it will pave way for our Azaadi (freedom). I will see who will hold their flag here. Do not do such things which will break our hearts”, he said.
Abdullah said that the nation is in danger as BJP wants to turn it into a Hindu nation. “This election is unlike any other elections in the State because our nation is in danger this time. They want to turn this nation into a Hindu nation. Everyone is equal in our constitution irrespective of their religion. Whosoever is the citizen of this country has equal rights. But they want to expunge or change that right. They want to change the whole constitution. Be aware of it. Today I will tell you that roads will be built but when a nation is destroyed what will these roads do? How will we survive?” he asked.
The NC president said that if New Delhi thinks that they can make people of the State slaves then they are living in fool’s paradise. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi claimed that they will win hearts of people but I want to tell him that use of force can’t help in winning the hearts of people,” he said.
About highway ban, Abdullah said, to transit 45 vehicles of troopers the Srinagar-Jammu highway was closed for a day. “J&K belongs to its people but they have to get permission first to pass through the roads,” he said, adding that “we have stand against this and people must vote for NC in upcoming elections and help the party to form the Government on its own without any coalition so that sufferings of people will come to an end.”
