SRINAGAR: About 80 kanal of land owned by Jammu and Kashmir is under the occupation of Ministry of Defence (MoD) in New Delhi, where the state government is awaiting approval for construction of 24 more room from New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
The Jammu and Kashmir Government owns property comprising 14.32 acres ( 114 Kanals and 11 Malras) of land with buildup area, popularly knows as ” Kashmir House,” at Raja Ji Marg, New Delhi, Minister Incharge Hospitality and Protocol said in a written reply to a question by Neelam Lengeh in the Legislative Assembly here today.
However, a major portion of the land is under the occupation of the MoD, the Chief Minister who holds the charge of the Ministry said. The reply said the issue to get the land vacated has already been taken up with the MoD and Directorate.
The minister said so far only 17.4 kanals of land houses 75 staff quarters of J&K government possession.
The construction of additional accommodation at Kashmir House would only be possible as and when adequate land is retrieved from the MoD, the reply said.
However, the reply said the renovation work of top floor of the B-Block of Guest House at Chankyapuri , New Delhi, stands completed by the J&K Public Works Department (PWD), New Delhi and three VIP suites have been constructed.
A proposal for construction of additional accommodation of 24 room behind the existing C-Block at Chanakyapuri has been submitted to NDMC and the J&K PWD, New Delhi for approval. However, the approval is awaited, the reply said. (AGENCIES)
