JAMMU, Aug 27: Stating that Article 35 A violates fundamental rights, former Minister and State National Communist Party (NCP) chief, Thakur Randhir Singh, today demanded its scrapping from the statue book.
Singh reminded the sad plight of Ramba Thakur daughter of late Brig Rajinder Singh, who was married to Army officer of Dehradun and after his death she became helpless as when she came to Jammu and joined a temporary post of job of warden in Women College Parade, she was denied pay because of non State subject. Moreover, her three children were also not considered State domicile.
The NCP chief was addressing a press conference. He said that most of the Dogras from Jammu belonging to all caste and creeds do have matrimonial in Himachal, UP, Mumbai, Rajasthan, Punjab and Delhi but their daughters and their children in distress can’t come and demand share of their father.
“Is it not a violation of fundamental rights”, he questioned and said that many refugees from West Pakistan who mostly belongs to Schedule Caste, backward and other classes don’t get job for their children in the State.
The Article 35A deprives them (West Pakistan refugees and girls married outside State) of their rights, the NCP chief said and condemned the some central parties like Congress and regional parties like NC for this discrimination.
Krishan Kumar Digra, vice president, State NCP, said that the people of nationalist outlook feel disheartened and demoralized, their aspirations are ignored, and their voices fall on the deaf ears. There is absolutely no reason to reject the demand of appointing a commission to recommend the delimitation of the constituencies of the parliament and the State assembly.
“For the Government and political parties, there should be no hesitation for agreeing for separate political status for Jammu and Ladakh. In these regions, people have been demanding abolition of Article 35A and 370 for free flow of Indian Constitution”, he added.
