JAMMU, June 3: A delegation from the Akhil Bhartiya Grahak Panchayat (ABGP) today met SSP Traffic Jammu, Farooq Qaiser, to raise several traffic-related concerns affecting the daily lives of commuters in the city.
A statement said the delegation flagged key issues such as overloading in matadors, irregular and unauthorized stoppages, and overcharging by e-autos and auto-rickshaws.
They also pointed to the problem of traffic jams caused by wrong parking at busy intersections and market areas.
Additionally, unauthorized rehris in sensitive areas were highlighted as a major cause of congestion.
The ABGP urged the traffic authorities to act strictly against violators and improve traffic management across Jammu.
They suggested increased patrolling, digital surveillance, and stricter penalties to tackle these recurring problems.
SSP Traffic Farooq Qaiser gave a patient hearing and assured the delegation of timely action.
He said the matter of fair auto fares would be taken up with the concerned associations.
He also underlined the importance of community support in maintaining road discipline and welcomed future cooperation from civil society groups like ABGP.
The delegation was led by Thakur Das Sharma, President ABGP J&K, and included Rajeev Bhardwaj (Organizing Secretary), Randhir Singh Chib, Surinder Mishra, Vivek Mahajan, Vandana Trehan and Sunita Sharma.
