Aarushi murder: SC dismisses dentist parents’ plea

NEW DELHI, May 28: The Supreme Court today dismissed the petition of Aarushi Talwar’s parents, seeking permission to examine 14 witnesses including former CBI Joint Director Arun Kumar in Aarushi-Hemraj murder case.

A vacation bench comprising Justices B S Chauhan and Dipak Misra refused to entertain the appeal filed by the dentist couple against the Allahabad High Court judgement under which their plea for examination of witnesses was dismissed.

Mr Kumar, who was earlier heading the CBI probe team, had given a clean chit to Dr Rajesh Talwar and his wife Dr Nupur.

The CBI had filed a closure report in the Special CBI court, Ghaziabad, which was rejected by the court and the parents of Aarushi were summoned as accused.

Aarushi was found dead at her Noida residence on May 16, 2008, and the body of their domestic help Hemraj was recovered from the terrace of their flat the next day.
