AAP to seek trust of vote in Delhi Assembly, Mukhi files nomination for Speaker

NEW DELHI : The newly-formed AAP Government in Delhi will seek trust vote in Delhi Assembly today.
Political observers said the Kejriwal Government is likely to pass the trust vote with all the eight Delhi Congress MLAs scheduled to vote for the AAP Government in today’s trust vote.
In a 70-member Assembly AAP has 28 seats and the Congress has eight seats. The Congress is extending outside support to the AAP and all the Congress MLAs have been asked to vote in favour of the trust vote today.
On the other hand the BJP legislative party leader Harsh Vardhan has instructed all the MLAs to cast their vote against the confidence motion. BJP has 31 MLAs, while its ally Akali Dal has one MLA in the 70-member house.
Meanwhile, BJP MLA Jagdish Mukhi today filed his nomination for the post of Speaker of the legislative Assembly. He will be contesting for the post of Speaker against MS Dhir of the AAP who has been fielded by the AAP for the post.
The first session of the Delhi Assembly will continue till January 7 after the vote of confidence today.
The next agenda will be election of the Speaker and Deputy-Speaker’s which will be held tomorrow, after that Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) Najeeb Jung will address the house in January 6.
The house will discuss the motion of vote of thanks on the LG address on January 7. (AGENCIES)
