JAMMU, Aug 5: IAS officer of erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir cadre, Shah Faesal, presently posted on deputation with the Government of India, today said a lot has changed in the Valley following abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution of India four years back.
“In 2013 when I was posted in Kashmir, I used to see youth pelting stones. ATMs not working. One full generation of Kashmir youth was out of discipline.” People lost their lives. But today, situation is different,” Faesal told an interviewer.
He said once he saw two guys checking an identity card of elderly citizen asking him why he was on the road when they have imposed curfew. This was the state of affairs. Stone pelting had ruptured society. However, there is no stone peling now,” Faesal who topped in the Civil Services in 2009, said.
Another major change, as per the IAS officer, was end of very large participation in the burials of militants.
Faesal had quit services to form political party. However, his resignation was not accepted for quite some time and he was taken back into services.
