SMVDSB organises 3-day cultural show

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board organized 3-day mega cultural show of ‘Rangla Jammu’, a presentation of Natrang Jammu, here today at the auditorium of Spiritual Growth Centre, Katra.
On the final day of the presentation at SGC, Dr. M. K. Bhandari, Additional CEO, SMVDSB, addressed the jam-packed auditorium and informed the guests about the objective behind organizing of the cultural presentation at Katra. He informed that the Shrine Board under the guidance of N. N. Vohra, Governor, who is the Chairman of the Board, has been making persistent efforts for preservation of art forms and revival of cultural heritage of the areas surrounding the Holy Shrine.
The current presentation is a part of this endeavour built into the social responsibility scheme of the Shrine Board.
The Additional CEO complimented Balwant Thakur, Director Natrang, for designing and directing Rangla Jammu Mega Cultural Show by capturing the ethos of the culture of Jammu region in particular and the State in general.
He also informed that the Governor has recently launched a Scholarship Scheme named “Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board-Natrang Young Artists Scholarship Scheme” with the focus of providing an opportunity of training promising young artists in traditional art forms and practicing them.
He also informed about the scheme launched by the Shrine Board for documenting and preserving various art forms with the help of Natrang. While the Shrine Board has been funding all these projects, the focus and spirit behind the same is to ensure that the culture and art of the area is preserved and revived.
The presentation on the last day of the three day presentation depicted mesmerizing variety of colours, rhythm, customs, style, patterns and creative expressions bunched into bouquet symbolizing the tradition of hills surrounding the Shrine.
The next destination for “Rangla Jammu” has been scheduled at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University on April 16, 2013 and is being conducted with the assistance of the Shrine Board.
