DCC Srinagar seeks spl package for J&K UT

SRINAGAR, June 17: Srinagar District Congress Committee (DCC) has urged the Govt to address the grievances of traders, hoteliers and small business unit holders, besides those connecting with tourism sector.
The party also urged the Govt to compensate the private school owners, who were also badly hit due to the lockdown.
Srinagar District Committee of the party today held a meeting of senior leaders and workers at head office here under the chairmanship of DCC president Abdul Gani Khan and expressed serious concern over the losses caused to people of Jammu and Kashmir due to the lockdown in wake of abrogation of Article 370 and COVID-19.
The meeting urged the Govt to come out with a special package for Jammu and Kashmir, as every section in J&K have suffered tremendous damages due to the lockdown, which has to be compensated to ensure that traders, small business units and other are able to resume their business activities.
The meeting elaborated that Kashmir was under lockdown snice August 2019 in the backdrop of the abrogation of Article 370 throwing every business establishment in J&K especially in valley out of gear, as a result, people are not even able to start their normal business activities due to the losses caused to them, meeting said.
It further said that Congress feels highly concerned about the hardships confronting people due to the hostile situation and emphasize the Govt to come out with a special package for J&K enabling the people to overcome the financial severities.
The meeting also urged the Govt to compensate the private schools owners so that the parents are not forced to pay the fee of their children, for the fact, the lockdown has critically impacted people, the meeting added.
The meeting strongly condemned the killing of Sarpanch Ajay Pandita (Bharti) and demanded exemplary punishment to killers.
