*6 more positive cases in Ladakh, tally 555

JAMMU, June 15: Twenty nine persons including two cameramen of national news channel which has telecast rights of live ‘Aarti’ of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji cave shrine tested positive for COVID-19 in Jammu region while sudden spike in Corona cases in the Union Territory of Ladakh which had reported 415 cases in three days slowed down today with just six new cases-three each from Leh and Kargil districts.
Meanwhile, an Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor, eight IAS officers and their around dozen relatives, some of them with travel history, have tested negative for the virus, officials told the Excelsior.
While some of them had travel history, others opted for routine tests as they had frequently been visiting various places for official works.
Seventeen Corona patients were today treated and discharged from different COVID Hospitals bringing down numbers of active cases to 756 as against 1191 total. There have been 428 recoveries and seven deaths.
Jammu district reported six Corona cases today including a 28 year-old woman from Srinagar, who is staying at Bantalab and had returned from Kashmir with her husband, 37-year-old man from Gangyal with travel history of New Delhi, 41-year old from Majalata and 26-year-old woman of Trikuta Nagar, who had returned from her parental house in New Delhi. Two other positives were travelers under administrative quarantine. All six have been admitted in Gandhi Nagar and Chest Diseases Hospitals, Bakshi Nagar.
Doctors said all of them were asymptomatic and stable.
District Magistrate Udhampur Dr Piyush Singla said seven persons have tested positive for the virus in Udhampur district.
The positives hailed from village Chattraru and Jaganu and had travel history of New Delhi and Haryana. After their return, they had been lodged under administrative quarantine and were sampled. They reported positive today and have been shifted from the quarantine centres to COVID Hospitals, Dr Singla said.
No Corona positive cases were today reported from Doda and Poonch districts.
A 29 years old cook, hailing from village Sidhri Mulchetar in Kishtwar district, who had returned from Andhra Pradesh, has tested Corona positive, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Rajinder Singh Tara said.
Three persons were tested positive for Coronavirus in Reasi district today.
They included two camerapersons of a national news channel which has telecast rights of live `Aarti’ from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Ji cave shrine. They were on way to Bhawan to replace sitting camerapersons but were kept under administrative quarantine at Katra and sampled during which they tested positive.
One of the camerapersons belonged to Uttar Pradesh and another to New Delhi.
Third positive case of Reasi was a 50 years old man from village Panasa, who was working in a private hotel at Jammu.
Six positive cases were today reported from Samba district.
All of them, according to sources, were travelers and had returned from different parts of the country. They too were under administrative quarantine and have been shifted to hospital.
A middle-aged man from Hiranagar tehsil in Kathua, also a traveler, was lone Corona positive case of the district today. He was under quarantine at Hiranagar.
Meanwhile, 1479 persons today crossed Lakhanpur, the gateway to Jammu and Kashmir, during last 24 hours from different States, District Magistrate OP Bhagat said. He added that there has been no let up in return of persons of the Union Territory of J&K to their homes from different parts of the country.
Four persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Ramban district today.
Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Ramban Dr Fareed Bhat said three positive patients belonged to village Bhatni and one to Hallal and they had travel history of South Kashmir’s Shopian district.
All of them are workers, Dr Bhat said.
A 20-year-old youth from Methyani Teryath in Kalakote area of Rajouri district tested positive today.
SSP Rajouri Chandan Kohli said the COVID patient has been shifted to hospital.
According to official figures, Jammu region now has 1191 positive cases including 756 active. There have been 428 recoveries and seven deaths in the Jammu region.

Meanwhile, six persons-three each in Leh and Kargil districts today tested positive for Coronavirus in the Union Territory of Ladakh.
With this, total number of Corona cases in Ladakh have risen to 555 including 127 in Leh and 428 in Kargil while there were 66 active cases in Leh and 406 in Kargil totaling 472.
A total of 82 Corona patients have been discharged in Ladakh including 60 in Leh and 22 in Kargil while there has been one Corona casualty.
A total of 89 Corona positive cases have been admitted in COVID Hospitals in Ladakh, 267 were in home isolation and 116 in COVID Care Centres.
Meanwhile, Kathua police station has resumed functioning after remaining closed for over a fortnight following two policemen testing positive for Coronavirus.
The police station was declared ‘out of bounds’ on May 30.
A police official said the police station resumed normal functioning this morning.
“The three policemen have not joined their duties as they are still under home quarantine despite getting cured of the infection,” he said.
He said the woman police station in Kathua handled public complaints in this period.
Kathua, one of the 10 districts of Jammu region bordering Punjab, has recorded 160 Coronavirus cases, of whom 146 are those who have returned from various parts of the country and abroad during the lockdown. While 76 patients have recovered, the rest are undergoing treatment.
Meanwhile, as part of evacuation of outbound migrant workers stranded in Jammu and Kashmir, two Shramik Special trains with 1826 passengers today left for Uttar Pardesh from Katra.
As per an official communiqué, all movements are being arranged only as per the SOPs notified by the Government, more specifically with complete adherence to the health check and necessary clearances regarding COVID-19.
