Residential house damaged in fire

JAMMU, June 15: A residential house was damaged in fire in Gangyal area.
As per police sources, fire broke out probably due to short circuit in the first floor of a residential house owned by Dev Raj at Gangyal.
On getting information, police team rushed to the spot and informed the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.
Fire fighters along with tenders reached the spot and doused the flames, but till then the household items including refrigerator, bedding, furniture, etc were damaged in fire.
No injury or casualty has been reported in the incident, while the exact loss could not be ascertained yet.
Meanwhile, on receiving the news of the fire, former Minister Raman Bhalla and former Municipal Corporation Chairman Satish Sharma also reached the spot and took stock of the damage caused by the fire.
Former minister Raman Bhalla was told by the owner of the house Dev Raj that all the things kept inside the house were burnt due to which he suffered a lot.
Bhalla spoke on the spot to the senior officials of the Revenue Department on the phone and said that this is a poor family and they live on a daily basis, so they should be given a fair compensation after assessing their losses.
After which Patwari of Revenue Department came and assessed the loss.
However, Gangyal Police has taken cognizance in this regard.
