Beacon helps stranded patients reach hospital

Srinagar, Apr 22: Border Roads Organization (BRO) helped 8 patients reach Bandipora after the vehicles they were travelling in got stuck after a landslide hit Bandipora-Gurez road.
Two ambulances from Health Centre Dawar in Gurez were carrying 8 patients and 11 attendants on Tuesday and were to be shifted to District Hospital Bandipora for better treatment.
However, due to landslide near Jhatkhusi Bridge on the snow-bound Bandipora-Gurez road it got stuck.
“The snow clearance team of 56 RCC of Beacon immediately swung into action by deploying its equipment and started the slide clearance. With many efforts the slide was cleared by and the ambulances were sent across,” Beacon said in a statement.
It said that vehicles were neither having 4×4 facility nor non-skid chains as such continuously got stuck at different places en-route.
“The team of 56 RCC along with the vehicles kept on helping them at each point ensuring the safety and security of the passengers. The vehicles were towed by the vehicles of the RCC and were crossed the Razdan pass with considerable the effort,” it said, adding the snow clearance team consisted of snow cutters, excavators and dozers along with department personnel and labourers.
The patients and attendants have lauded the efforts of the RCC by helping them to reach a hospital in Bandipora.
