JAMMU, May 16: Kashmiri Migrant relief holders and over-aged youth held a protest demonstration in front of Relief & Rehabilitation Commissioner, Canal Road, Jammu for the failure of the Government in implementing the assurances given by Chief Minister in the Apex Committee meeting on April 18 regarding the solution of problems of migrants.
These migrants are sitting on dharna in front of RC’s Office and Jagti township for over last 50 days in support of the demand of relief enhancement.
The protestors raising slogans in support of their demand expressed grave concern over the delaying tactics adopted by the Government in enhancement of cash relief despite repeated assurances. They, while lambasting the Government alleged that it failed to rehabilitate the over aged youth of the community which is the worst suffer of the 23 year long turmoil in the state. This lot of youth has turned frustrated as their future is totally bleak, they added.
They urged the Government to take immediate steps in enhancing the cash relief to Rs 120 per soul per day so that they can keep their body and soul together in these hard days.
Sanjay Bhat and Buban Ji from Non camp area and Ajay Bhat and O N Kaw from Jagti township while addressing warned to intensify agitation in case the orders regarding enahcnemnt of relief were not taken immediately.
Ajay Bhat accused the State Government of its failure in sending recommendations to the Central Government in this regard till date which has led to a lot of resentment among the relief holders.
