Mayor distributes ration to poor, feeds stray animals

JAMMU, Mar 31: In view of the prevailing situation arisen due to outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today fed the stray animals at various parts of the City as such animals are not being properly fed due to the ongoing lockdown.
Dr. Susheel Sharma, Municipal Veterinary Officer and other field staff of JMC was also present on the occasion.
Later, the Mayor along with Surinder Sharma, JMC Councilor and Vicky Manhas, Pardeep Sharma, Rajinder Abrol, all prominent citizens of Janipur area also distributed ration to 175 needy and downtrodden families residing in Janipur area.
The ration was distributed at Project School Janipur in a systematically manner keeping in view the proper social distancing guideline of the health department.
Speaking on the occasion the Mayor said that distribution of ration to the needy persons at other locations shall also be done soon on routine basis apart from feeding the stray animals.
He appealed to the social organizations as well as prominent citizens of Jammu to come forward for the noble cause of providing food and other essential commodities like medicines, masks, sanitizers etc to the needy, poor and daily wagers residing in their surroundings.
