JAMMU, Mar 14: The farmers of Jammu province are in the worst ever distress they have ever faced, said Ch Lal Singh in the meeting of senior leaders of DSSP at his residence here, today.
He said this is the third crop failure in a row and the yesterday’s hailstorm seems to be the final nail in the coffin. He regretted that the relief being given to the farmers is merely an eyewash and those in whose favour compensation has been released, is merely a cruel joke to the entire farmers community who are the saviours of the mankind, he added.
Ch Lal Singh, while commenting on the recent Amnesty Scheme of J&K Government on power tariff, said that there is hardly any relief for the poor laborers, farmers, downtrodden and other economically weaker sections of the society as Government has merely condoned the interest or the compound interest without giving relief of any kind in the consumption of the power which the consumer has actually used.
Government has used commercial bank mechanics without realising the reality of the poverty in the society. The present Amnesty is beneficial to the willful defaulters only but not to the actual consumer who deserve it.
Dr.Hari Dutt Shishu, general secretary of the party, while addressing appealed to all the rank and file of the party to coordinate with all agencies to combat the alarming menace of coronavirus. Kamal Saini (retd) IGP and .K.D.Singh vice president of the party appealed the LG to ensure proper medical responses at block and panchayat level in case of medical emergency. The present claim of the Government does not match the ground reality, they regretted.
Col.(retd) JP Singh, a noted columnist and DSSP leader, Sunita Sharma, Suman Wazir, KP Singh, chairman Farmers Cell ,Prem Chowdhry, Pushpinder Advocate, Vikrant Advocate, Arjun Singh,SS Billawaria, Raju Pahalwan, Wazir Khan amongst others were present in the meeting.
