Civilian loses foot in blast

JAMMU, Mar 31: A civilian was today injured in a mine blast near the Line of Control (LoC) at village Makri in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district.
The injured civilian has been identified as Dharam Pal son of Satpal, a resident of Makri, Nowshera.
Army spokesman Col RK Palta said the civilian was grazing cattle when he entered into marked minefield, where he stepped over a mine leading to an explosion at 11.25 am.
He was evacuated from the site of blast and given first aid at by the Regimental Medical Officer of the Unit. Later, he was admitted in Nowshera hospital from where he was referred to 150 General Hospital of the Army..
The civilian has sustained injuries on his right foot, which had to be amputated.
