JAMMU, Feb 29: Banihal, Nagrota and Manwal Police arrested 3 drug peddlers, 2 absconders and 2 cattle smugglers.
As per police sources, on specific information, a team from Banihal Police Station laid a naka near T-Chowk and intercepted a Punjab bound truck bearing registration number PB7BS-5926.
During checking, police team recovered 350 kilogram poppy straw concealed in gunny bags from the truck and arrested the driver, who has been identified as Baljeet Kumar, son of Banarsi Singh, a resident of Nowshera Punjab.
Meanwhile, a team from Banihal Police Station arrested two pedestrians and recovered banned injections and 100 grams cannabis from their possession.
The accused were identified as Anayat Javid, son of Javid Ahmed Ganie, a resident of Cheterpura District Pulwama and Masheer-Ul-Haq, son of Nazir Ahmed Bali, a resident of Neel Senigam Tehsil Ramsoo District Ramban.
Police team led by SHO Banihal Inspector Abid Bukhari made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Sajad Sarwar, Additional SP Ramban Sanjay Parihar and SSP Ramban Haseeb-ur-Rehman.
Meanwhile, a team from Nagrota Police Station led by SHO Inspector Mohammad Shoket under the supervision of SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma laid a naka near Ban Toll Plaza and intercepted a truck.
During checking, police team rescued 14 bovine animals from the vehicle and arrested one person, who has been identified as jehangir Pawar, son of Ayub Pawar, a resident of Saharanpur Uttar Pradesh.
However, a team from Manwal Police Post led by SI Vikram Jasrotia under the supervision of SHO Jhajjar Kotli Inspector Rajesh Khajuria and SDPO Nagrota Mohan Lal Sharma laid a naka and rescued 2 bovine animals from a Tata Mobile. The team also arrested one person who was identified as Hassan Din, a resident of District Udhampur.
Cases under relevant sections have been registered at Banihal, Nagrota and Jhajjar Kotli Police Stations and investigation started.
