Basotra, Jauhar get Sahitya Akademi Prize

JAMMU, Feb 25: Rattan Lal Basotra and Ratan Lal Jauhar from Jammu and Kashmir are among the winners of Sahitya Akademi Prize for Translation 2019.
Mr Basotra has been selected for the prestigious prize for his Dogri translation `Satisare Di Kahani’ of Hindi Novel `Katha Satisar’ by Chandarkanta while Ratan Lal Jauhar has been selected for Kashmiri translation of Ravindernath Tagore’s Novel `Gora’.
Rattan Lal Basotra is presently working as Editor Dogri in J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages. The prize carries an amount of Rs 50 thousands and a copper plaque, which will be presented to the selected translators at a special function to be held sometime later this year.
The Executive Board of the Sahitya Akademi, which met at New Delhi yesterday, selected 23 books in different languages for the Translation Prize 2019. The books were selected on the basis of recommendations made by the Selection Committee of three members each in the concerned languages in accordance with the rules and procedure laid down for the purpose.
