Awareness session for implementation of ‘Solid Waste Management held at JMC

JAMMU, Feb 7: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) today held interaction cum awareness session for implementation of Solid Waste Management and Plastic Waste Management with the Government institutions, Market associations, Resident welfare associations, Hoteliers and Banquet Hall here.
The programme was held under the chairmanship of Mayor JMC, Chander Mohan Gupta and Suraj Parkash Padha, Chairman of Swachh Bharat Committee JMC.
The meeting was started with welcome session by Dr Zaffar Iqbal, Nodal Officer, SWM. Thereafter a presentation was delivered by Ranvir Singh and Piyush Bhasin, representatives from Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA), a Delhi based NGO dealing with waste management.
Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner JMC, Avny Lavasa said, we collectively do our best in coordination with IPCA to adopt some more advanced method to dispose off dry waste from the jurisdiction of Jammu municipal limit to expedite the process to clean Jammu.
Mayor thanked all the participants and said collective efforts are required to bring Jammu among 10 cleanest cities of India.
In the interaction session, prominent persons of the city put forth some cleanliness problems of the city before Mayor and after patient hearing he assured that JMC would always put its best for the cleanliness of the city.
