SAMBA, Feb 4: Police arrested four persons and recovered 330 Kilograms of poppy straw from their possession at Ghagwal in district Samba today.
According to reports a team of Police Station, Ghagwal laid Nakka on Jammu Pathankot National Highway near Tapyal in district Samba during the intervening night. At the Nakka checking police intercepted a canter bearing Registration No PB22J- 9277 and recovered 290 kilograms of poppy straw from truck. Police arrested the driver of the canter and his associate on spot.
Police also seized the contraband items and the canter on spot.
The truck driver has been identified as Mohammad Roshan, son of Fateh Mohd resident of Malerkotla Punjab and his associate namely Rizwan, son of Peeru resident of Saharanpur UP.
Similarly police later intercepted a truck bearing Registration No HP73- 1491 during the Nakka checking, during the frisking of the vehicle police recovered 40 kilograms of poppy straw from truck and also arrested two person and seized the contraband items.
The accused have been identified as Mohd Sadiq, son of Noor Jamal and Mohammad Javed, son of Fateh Mohammad both are residents of Malerkotla Punjab.
In this regard police has taken cognizance of the matter and started further investigations.
