BJP trying to divert public attention from basic issues: Tara Chand

JAMMU, Jan 15: Former Deputy Chief Minister and senior Congress leader, Tara Chand has alleged that BJP is trying to divert the attention of the people from basic issues.
Addressing party workers’ meeting at Chak Malal in Khour the other day, Tara Chand said that BJP was diverting the attention of the people from real issues facing the common man on day to day basis, to escape its responsibility in the absence of any meaningful political process and activity in view of the prevailing situation here.
Former Dy CM further said that farmers are in great economic disaster due to heavy losses to their paddy crop besides facing hardships of sowing the wheat crop. There was urgent need to provide adequate relief package to the affected farmers, he added.
Congress leader said that there is almost total damage to the paddy crop due to hailstorm and massive rains. He urged upon the J&K Administration to provide special relief package to the farmers of Jammu belt, who have suffered extensive loss.
He said that farmers are in very bad condition due to loss to their crops. He said BJP has totally failed in its duty after getting huge mandate from the border population and farmers.
Tara Chand assured the farmers that Congress Party has always remained in fore front on the issue of farming community in the country and would not be lagging behind in extending all sorts of support to their genuine struggle.
He cautioned the people against the designs of communal and divisive forces who are weakening the strength of nation. He said Congress Party remains committed to maintaining of religious brotherhood and promoting the principle of unity in diversity in the country, for overall peace and progress.
Former Dy CM said that Congress will fight for the cause of youth, farmers and common man and highlight their problems at all levels in an atmosphere of peace and democracy.
The rally was also addressed by PCC member Suram Singh, Balbir Singh -Chairman BDC Khour; Dawrika Nath Sharma-Chairman BDC Khada Balli; Biasaki Ram – president BCC Khour; Jagdish Raj Sharma president BCC Samwan; Daljit Singh-president BCC Pargwal; Goutam Lal Sharma-president BCC Khada Wali, Prem Singh, Prabu Singh and several Sarpanchs and Panchs of the area.
